What do we Pray, in time of need...

What do we Pray, in time of need...

My husbands brother is not doing well. He has cancer and has been battling it hard for over a year. We are so thankful that he has been with us for this time, but it is at this time, I ask, "What do we pray"?

He is not in pain or at least we do not think so, due to medicines, which we are so thankful for. I do believe he is a very faithful man and how we all want him to be with us longer, but yet we don't want him to suffer. His wife is the one that is his rock and he is hers. The love that they share is so strong.

I went through this with my Mom and it got to a point I prayed please God open your arms and let her in. Now if you knew my Mom they probably had bells on and a huge parade when she arrived. She had so much faith. When we were at MD Anderson, all she would say, with a big smile, "I'll be fine either way". How I miss her.

So I just want to say I probably want post as often, but my swap partners your gifts are done. My tea swap partner gift will be sent out tomorrow and I'm so glad to have gotten started on Linda's spring swap early. That doesn't happen very often.

(John 14:27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Faith...is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see

Hebrews 11:1

Just pray that God's will be done and that when he takes your BIL home God grants you all the strength to accept His will.

I shall keep your BIL and your whole family in my prayers as well.

Hugs,
Joanne

I am so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. I know exactly what you mean about what to pray. When my mother was dying of cancer I prayed that God would take her own home rather then have her suffer anymore pain. She had suffered enough pain in her life with the loss of two sons. I know when she reached those pearly gates my two brothers were standing there with open arms to welcome her. Knowing this is what gave me comfort. Then I read "90 Minutes in Heaven" and I knew for sure they met her at the gates and I just sat and cried. I, too, miss my mama terribly, but I know she is in a much better place then I am. I will pray for your brother-in-law and your whole family.
Have a Blessed Day,
Diane

Bonnie, I know too about asking God to take my mother into His arms when she was in the last stages of Alzheimer's Disease. It is hard to let go but God knows our hearts and our strength. He will be right there with us.

I join everyone else in Prayer for you and your family. For some Prayers, no words are needed. He knows what's in our hearts, and is there to give us comfort and peace.

Our Heavenly Father knows what you need... all of you! Just like some of the others who have commented... His Will Be Done. Just remember that he loves you, and that your BIL is in good hands!
Keep yourselves strong, you will be surprised at how others are watching to see how you all handle this. There may be seeds being planted in the gospel right now from how you treat your BIL and each other. Spend time talking about the fun things, memories etc... good times.
Take care.

Sorry to hear of your BIL's illness. God already knows the day that He will take your BIL to his eternal home. I guess I always pray that the transition from this life to the next is soft and painless. Other than that, we must accept God's will and cherish every moment that He gives us with our loved ones.
Prayers to you and yours,
Jeanie

Amen to the scriptures you posted, Bonnie. As you maybe know, my husband was diagnosed with cancer last November. He is doing well, and we believe it's because of the prayers--ours and hundreds of friends and family members. We pray every day, "Lord, your will be done." We know God has a plan, and we're learning to "let our hearts not be troubled." God bless you, your BIL and his family. Maybe he bring your BIL comfort and healing, either here on earth or in his forever home.

Bonnie - know that you are all in our prayers! Before our grandmother died, our mom always said it was God's perfect timing - not one miniute too soon, not one miniute too late. We have reminded ourselves of that often.
God Bless you all!

You and your BIL and your family are in my prayers. I have faced the same questions and I'm sure there are as many answers as there are families. I came to much the same plea as you did with your mother and it gives me comfort to know she is in a better place and with many loved ones. I still have sadness for my loss, but I know that she is deserving of many blessings and will be with me when it is my time.
