Countdown for next Show and New Styles

Back to the sewing room to make Little Girls Dresses for the next show. I wanted to venture out from the dress that always sales to something a little different. It has been fun mixing and matching patterns and coming up with new items, even using a quilting ruler to add more detail. Love the vintage look for adults and think it really is cute on little girls for photo's.

I am getting to sew a couple of quilt blocks in between so hope to have a quilt finished to show soon.

Sneak Peek of Giveaway and if I see another TOMATOE!!!

If you haven't noticed, I didn't get any sewing done while watching my grand babies at the lake. So my giveaway is a little late, but good news is you can still enter it in the post below. Sneak peek above and there will be another surprise to go with it.

Below is what I've been doing since we got back from the lake. Vegetables everywhere, canned tomatoes, (rotel, Italian style, and stewed), bread and butter pickles, hot peppers for my stuffed roast I make, recipe here, bread and butter peppers (just made this one up) and string beans. I don't know how the women from the pioneer era did all the chores, canning, washing clothes on a rub board, homemade bread, sewing and mending, large families, etc...I just want to crawl into my little sewing room for a day, but I need to be thankful for all the fresh veggies.

And look what's on the counter, my husband went outside and picked this evening, boy was I HAPPY ;(

Christmas In July Sent

x
My Christmas in July package finally arrived last week and I thought I would post pictures of what I sent to Lynda. She has young ones still at home so I thought something for her and to keep them busy during the Holiday's would work.
x
It is a table topper that you can turn over and play checkers. I printed off the game instructions and made the checkers out of wool with blanket stitch around them.
x

x
A Texas stocking and towel. Tag says, "Merry Christmas Ya'll"
x
x
Patterns, Moda Charm Pack, magazines and a little tablet.

Quick Post and Wall Hanging

x

Quick Post and Wall Hanging
x
I have one more day before I head out and still have a long list to get completed. The wall hanging still needs the binding and a tag on the back. I wanted something fun for the girls weekend and friendship fitted in somewhere on it. I haven't done the raw edged applique and just started cutting and putting things together. Maybe I'll make a pattern, but first I should ask if you can tell what it is?
x
This is the first time for me to go so I'm not sure what we are doing with the wall hangings, but I know it will go on my door. I've got the camera packed so lots of pictures to be taken.
x
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Scrappy Purse and Visitors

x
Scrappy Purse and Visitors
x
I finished my scrappy purse this morning and it was one of those ideas you have that took more time than you thought it would. When I make purses I just dive in and I almost sunk with this one. Wanted to sew WST and bind it all the way around, in the end I was pleased. I love to braid my handles on purses. It really stays on your shoulder, if you haven't tried this it works really well.

I guess I can throw away these little bitty pieces of fabric, that's about what it comes down to when I go through my fabric. But look what you can piece together and make out of the smallest amounts, the coupon book was made out of scraps.
x
The giveaway this time included an apron, a coupon book with little credit card cubby hole or business cards if you need to give any out while your at the grocery store and a crochet dishcloth. I'm back hooking at the age of 55. Didn't think that would happen. LOL

Today I needed something easy...

Today I needed something easy...
x zzzz
Have you ever had one of those days you didn't want to think, well this was one of those days. Now I'm not talking about the days you just don't think, which I have a lot of them too.
zzzzx
First, I wanted to use something I already had and seeing everyone sew with charm packs, I cut me some 5" squares on one. Made prairie points for the outside edge and just need to put on the border. Now both of these aren't big at all and will probably be made into a table topper or a baby quilt.
zzzz

Something about me you might not know by looking at my blog, but my favorite colors are red, yellows and greens. Don't know why, but they always have been. I'm going to try and quilt at least one in the morning so I can bring it over to my SIL house to do handwork. Family get together tomorrow and I need to cook something. Will see what happens.
aaaaa
Just want to say to the everyone that sales wonderful handmade items on etsy, eBay or their own website, you better get busy. I've been selling products for a long time and could always kick myself when it comes time for the holidays and I don't have enough merchandise. Boy, I gotta get busy...

BIG DAY!!! GIVEAWAY DAY MAY 27, 2009

x
Giveaway Day May 27, 2009
x
Boy, I don't know where my head is, well yes I do, it's been planning a vacation and didn't even realize I needed to do this post. I had everything finished, just forgot the date.
x
Are you ready for the BIG DAY!!! This is so exciting when we all get together and either give things away or just go blog to blog and find some of the neatest sites. http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/ does such a good job with organizing this huge day. I couldn't imagine.
x
I will ship anywhere and hope you all enjoy what I'm giving away. Over here in the states we just had Memorial Day Weekend and I had made me a purse and thought I would do an extra one. So I'm giving away a purse(has 2 pockets on the front), 1/2 yard of each print I used of Moda fabrics (3), 7 Romantic Homes Magazines (oh, you can see some pretty decor in these and get ideas on things to make) and last an apron pattern called "Apron Strings" which can be used with jelly rolls. I will pick a number by using Random.org.
x
x
x
All I ask is to come back and see me sometimes. I love to read comments and find new blogs.
x
I have an online store http://www.calamityjanescottage.com/ with fabric, patterns, handmade items and some antiques.a
Random giveaways often and also have tutorials on the blog at the sidebar-dishtowel apron, burp cloths, pincushion, etc. Calamity Jane's Patterns will be coming soon, so check back and stay awhile when you get a chance.

New BOM Found-Fabric and PIF's

New BOM Found-Fabric and PIF's

This BOM that Jenny @ http://elefantz.blogspot.com/ has done is so cute. I really need to get started on this one. Just click on the picture and it will take you to her site. Be sure and let her know you saw it on my blog. I know it's been out there, but just in case someone hasn't seen it, beautiful work Jenny.

This is some of the fabric I'll be listing on Etsy and on http://calamityjanescottage.com/ . I'll show more pictures soon of the baby quilt and a quilt I'm working on with some of the fabric from above.
Oh, I forgot to say, I finished 2 PIF's and 1 more to go, almost done. They will be on there way tomorrow. WooHoo, is that how you say it?
