This weekend is always hard for me, even though I'm a Mom. I miss my Mom everyday. We talked each night before going to bed and knew what we both wanted to say even if other ones didn't understand. It's been 3 years but seems like yesterday.

So all I can say, is Cherish your Mom each day she is with you.

I picked up this board at Hobby Lobby, 1/2 off a while back, always meant to hang it up by my sewing machine for project I'm working on. It helps if I have objects visible to stay focus. LOL, I hop around from project to project anyway.

The materials above are what you will need. A magnet, glue and I used old buttons for mine. I have a thing for buttons. The magnet set was bought at Walmart, sorry Stina. You can probably use any kind of glue, but this seemed to work fine. Apply glue to both sides, the magnet and the back of the button, press together. Let them dry overnight and you are ready to go. Super easy and great for your sewing room.

Suitcase For Traveling Part 2

I hope you enjoy this little idea, but it does take a bit of time. The decoupage requires layers of coats to give a smooth feel, the wrinkles are not even felt when it is all done. You will be so happy to have this suitcase to pack your projects in for your next adventure.

The top picture is side one and then this is side two.

Down the side I used some of my buttons that is so hard for me to part with, they put the icing on the cake though.

For the inside, when I opened this suitcase I loved it. Who doesn't like yellow and white polka dots. You don't come across to many with the insides in good shape.

Pack it up with some of your goodies to bring and your off to be with friends. Have to pack some of my towels to bring them. Can't wait for the next getaway, hope it's soon.

You can't do Decoupage without making a mess. I find old suitcases at Goodwill or yard sales, I think I paid $5.00 for this one and just wait till you see the inside. You'll be the talk of your next quilting or sewing gathering. Just right to carry all your projects and goodies. Pack them in this suitcase and you are ready to go. This is going to have to be a 2 part series, due to glue not drying fast enough and the many coats you need to put on it.

I also have to tell you if you have any old quilting books they would look great on one too. I have some of my grandmothers Work Baskets I might have to try.

On the above picture you can see that I ran off COPIES of old patterns (colored copies) on a tan paper. This gives them a more vintage look. Could not see putting the actual pattern on one.

Now you want to cut a few of the ladies out and divide them up. Oh they had such style back then.

You also want to make a few copies of the instruction sheets for the main background.

I start on the edge of my suitcase with strips of the instruction sheet. Now when you have to decoupage around corners you will tuck and fold with the paste as your glue to hold down all the folds. This next picture is bad, this suitcase needs a major face lift, but she will be OK.

This is really messy, just kinda smooth it out with your fingers. Now there is going to be wrinkles, but as it dries and more coats added they want be as noticeable.

Moving right along in the sewing room today, put a few more items up and sewed some. Boy do I just want to sew.

Here are a few more pictures. Rotary cuter and scissors have a little home. I found this container at WalMart-$6.00.

My tags that I make to put on my handmade items have found a little home instead of a plastic bag. The green and orange containers I found at Hobby Lobby, 1/2 off. I think for both of the next two containers were under $10.00. The orange one has all my embroidery designs stored away.

Now this picture is for a project I'll be showing how to make tomorrow. Now it might take all day, so look for it in the evening. I sold these in the shop and don't have one myself. Can't wait.

I guess by now you all know I jump from one project to another. Well today I was so tired of hunting for things in the sewing room I thought I would get started on this BIG JOB of organizing. I'll be showing pictures of everyday progress, at least one drawer, one shelf or just one piece of fabric folded, it's a step. Hope to give some ideas on storage and using what we have. Maybe by Christmas you can see the whole sewing room. LOL. If anyone wants to join in I'll put a list on the sidebar with the button. You can add the button to your blog so every time you look at it you'll have to put away something. Maybe we can encourage each other to keep it organized.

I have antique armoirs in my sewing room for storage. I love having these. You can't believe how much I can cram fit so nicely into them. (New me)

The picture above is not how it will look, but I wanted to show you the jars I'm loading up. You don't have to have old antique jars. You can take a pickle jar and cut a piece of fabric to decorate the top of it. I know you have some fabric. If you look at the top of the armoire I took an extension curtain rod and loaded it up with ribbons. I like to wrap packages with them. You can also do this in the top of your closet.

So here is a little button (at the top of the post) you can grab. If you are already on top of things you want need this, but I need a little shove.

This BOM that Jenny @ http://elefantz.blogspot.com/ has done is so cute. I really need to get started on this one. Just click on the picture and it will take you to her site. Oh, I forgot to say, I finished 2 PIF's and 1 more to go, almost done. They will be on there way tomorrow. WooHoo, is that how you say it?

Baby Burp Cloths Tutorial

Baby Burp Cloths Tutorial

This burp cloth is made almost like this one I showed here , except these are done with a dishcloth. It makes them long to throw over your shoulder, which I like because they stay put.

First find you some dishcloths.

Then you can hand embroidery, applique or machine embroidery a design at the bottom edge.

Cut a piece of fabric that measures 4" by WOF. Fold in half and run two gathering stitching lines.

Gather and pin to the bottom edge of towel, right sides together.

Sew ruffle to the towel.

Top stitch through all thicknesses with seam press toward towel.

Sew back seam, I took a 5/8" seam, all the way down the back of the towel and ruffle.

Press seam open.

You now have a long tube. Put your arm through it and turn. Press with the seam centered at the back and design centered in the front.

Finished and sew easy. Linda, this one's coming your way.

I wanted to try and let you know how we are saying Abbyn's name without speakers. Ummm. OK, you know the muscles in your stomach you are suppose to be able to see, called an Ab, not sure how to spell it and haven't seen it in a long time. That's how you start her name then just add Ben on the last part.

This is what I'm bringing today. A little burp cloth and receiving blanket. The burp cloth is made from a white dish towel which I just found some so I can embroidery my little tea lady on them too.

Look Linda, it has a Kangaroo on the burp cloth, one just might have to hop your way.

I would like you to meet the newest member of our family, Abbyn. Of course me and PaPaw thinks she's beautiful and so proud of her parents.

This is when she said, "I'm not sure I like being out of my warm soft home."

And then she decided it wasn't bad after all.

Dad is so proud of his girls.

I'm so proud of my daughter, new Mom. Little sis is so tired. When she first saw her she said "I love that baby".

And big sis, just thinks she could be the best big sis there is.

PaPaw looks tired, we were there all night and she was born at 4:25 in the morning weighing in at 6.5 lbs, 18" long.

OK, everyone asking where was I, this is me worn out at home. I'll get a picture tomorrow with Abbyn. I took pictures all day and didn't get someone to take a picture of me holding her.
