Quilt Guild-Beautiful Quilts

I went to the quilt guild today and they had some beautiful quilts to show and a speaker that kept us laughing so hard during her presentation. Her quilts are hand pieced and hand quilted, so grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy. Sorry for some of the pictures not being close enough and a little blurry. The first 3 are show and tell and then the rest are Sue Weldon's.

Sue says she does her hand work about 6 hours a day, 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night. Hope you enjoyed the show.

Buzy as a Bee!!!

I've been a little busy around here and thought I would just share some photos of whats been happening.

First a question to the ones that make patterns. Is there anyone that "If you make it they will come," and make the pattern for you? I guess you can see that I'm not a writer. I have all these ideas and can cut, sew the project and take notes, but just hope everyone can understand them.

OK, what I've been up to. My DH and I put a garden in, Oh I can just taste the cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, eggplants, bell peppers and last the cayenne peppers (love them). The picture doesn't make it look to big, but we have 24 tomato plants and 18 cucumbers, etc. I feel muscles I haven't felt in a long time.

This is my friend who stays close to me anytime I'm outside. She so sweet and so glad we have 6 acres for her to run in.

I'm trying my hand at free motion quilting, but not doing just the stippling, kinda fun. Don't look to close, I don't have a stitch regulator.

Then I got busy and started cutting fabric. I get really upset when I don't have anything in my little cubby holes (I'll have to take a picture of where I keep my projects later, forgot) to pick up and sew. I usually have a project I can just grab. Well things got pretty low. So just a few little peeks of what will be coming out of the sewing room this week.

Quilted, Listed and New Pattern in the Makes

Quilted, Listed and New Pattern in the Makes

Hey Diddle Diddle is now finished and listed in my etsy shop. I need to take other pictures due to the sun so bright it showed through the quilt. I put a green and white check, cut on the bias for the binding and quilted it with yellow thread. Couldn't believe I found a green that matched in my stash.

Here's another peek of the quilt pattern I hope to have soon. The sample is for my daughter, she loves orange.

Baby Quilt Pieced Today

I needed a little piece today, now I need a little quilty tomorrow. Cleaning out my sewing room I found this piece of fabric I had picked up thinking my daughter would like it. Well, it is now going into a quilt I will probably put on Etsy. I love making log cabins and thought the colors went well with the theme fabric. The pictures are not showing up the embroidery, not sure why, it is the same color as the background color of the theme piece. Might have to go outside after it is quilted. On my to-do list for tomorrow. So here is a few pictures of what I did today.

I fussy cut the fabric to go with the rhyme.

We had a busy weekend, but managed to get in some sewing. It was things I could pick up and even take with me, so I thought I would show you a few pictures.

I found this little tutorial on http://spoonfullofsugargirls.blogspot.com/2009/05/embellishment-challenge.html isn't it cute. Now my daughter said it was going to scare Abbyn, but thought it was cute. Made it with minke so the body is really soft and you know how babies like ribbons. Go check out A Spoonful of Sugars, hers is really cute. I also did some quick blankets out of some flannel I had and embroidered Abbyn's name on them. We didn't know what they were going to name her until she was born, so that is why all the delay on the items with her name.

Now for the sneak peek, just a little someone peeking out. Who could it be and who is it for. You'll just have to wait and see, if he doesn't melt here in Texas.

This weekend is always hard for me, even though I'm a Mom. I miss my Mom everyday. We talked each night before going to bed and knew what we both wanted to say even if other ones didn't understand. It's been 3 years but seems like yesterday.

So all I can say, is Cherish your Mom each day she is with you.

I picked up this board at Hobby Lobby, 1/2 off a while back, always meant to hang it up by my sewing machine for project I'm working on. It helps if I have objects visible to stay focus. LOL, I hop around from project to project anyway.

The materials above are what you will need. A magnet, glue and I used old buttons for mine. I have a thing for buttons. The magnet set was bought at Walmart, sorry Stina. You can probably use any kind of glue, but this seemed to work fine. Apply glue to both sides, the magnet and the back of the button, press together. Let them dry overnight and you are ready to go. Super easy and great for your sewing room.

Suitcase For Traveling Part 2

I hope you enjoy this little idea, but it does take a bit of time. The decoupage requires layers of coats to give a smooth feel, the wrinkles are not even felt when it is all done. You will be so happy to have this suitcase to pack your projects in for your next adventure.

The top picture is side one and then this is side two.

Down the side I used some of my buttons that is so hard for me to part with, they put the icing on the cake though.

For the inside, when I opened this suitcase I loved it. Who doesn't like yellow and white polka dots. You don't come across to many with the insides in good shape.

Pack it up with some of your goodies to bring and your off to be with friends. Have to pack some of my towels to bring them. Can't wait for the next getaway, hope it's soon.
